Google Delays Its Page Experience Algorithm To Mid-June

What exactly goes on behind the scenes when Google determines if a website is worthy enough to be on the first page of search results? There are obviously many factors involved, such as the actual content and how relevant it is to the search. Then there is also the experience that users have when they load the page.

If a website is poorly designed and hard to navigate in order to get the information, then Google could rank it lower. Google is using their clout to try and get web developers to improve the experience of their websites, although it seems that the company’s implementation of this has since been delayed to mid-June, and the changes are expected to be felt in August.

According to Google, “We’ll begin using page experience as part of our ranking systems beginning in mid-June 2021. However, page experience won’t play its full role as part of those systems until the end of August. You can think of it as if you’re adding a flavoring to a food you’re preparing. Rather than add the flavor all at once into the mix, we’ll be slowly adding it all over this time period.”

This is good news for webmasters and developers who might not have had the time to ensure that their pages are up to scratch by Google’s standards, so the additional time will hopefully allow them to get it sorted out.
